Come with me and you will see…a world of imagination!

07-05-2010 moments in life

Yesterday I received a call from my daughter-she was in hysterics.  A close friend of hers was killed in an auto accident.  In fact, she was a sorority sister-her twin.  There were four of them in a Corvette made strictly for two people.  The only one belted in-the driver.

They were on a straight away but there was a slight S curve.  The girl driving lost control and hit several cars before finally piling into the pole.  Along the quarter-mile that it took the car to finally stop; parts of the car and bodies were strewn.  Parts of the bodies were in several areas.  No one survived-a blessing in itself really.  The driver was pinned under the vehicle for 12 hours; the police had to wait for the Coroners Office to arrive.  It was a busy night in Los Angeles.

My daughter was notified of these events as she was preparing for her finals today; in the library.  Her mobile went off with SMS; her messenger loaded with short messages.  They were supposed to graduate together.  When she called me; I could only think “thank God it wasn’t her”.

She did not finish that paper but she will-barely.  This morning she tried to be logical and tried to figure out The Why??  There just isn’t an answer.  They should not have been packed into that vehicle.  Now the grieving will start for her and her friends but most of all the parents of those killed.

I cannot imagine the horror of burying your child.
