Today, yes today, is a soapbox day.  It started with the firing of a General-went on to a Senate bill-and continued on with a post of mine titled ‘FREEDOM’. 

In a country where freedom of speech and the ability to voice your opinion is greatly valued, I find it outrageous that a General was fired due to his personal view comments. Yes, he is wearing the uniform of our nations military but that doesn’t take away from his freedom to express himself.  Afterall, is not that what this country is about?

I find it appalling that our Senate is trying to pass a bill or at least it is on the agenda which gives a blanket authorization to the Oval Office to completely cut off the internet.  That means that the only ones who will know what is going on is….our government, ie, the President.  Right now, I don’t trust this President as far as I can throw him….so why would I want to give him that kind of power?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!!  I completely agree that should it be necessary that a partial block can and should be done in the name of national security.  However, these days, security has definitely been compromised in that whoever or whatever terrorist is out there, has been there long before this.  This would be closing the barn door after the horses have left the barn.  The economy is very tied to the internet as well as just personal business of the majority of people.  Our country cannot be subjected to this as the question would then be…WHAT IS TRUTH OR LIES?  It is something we question now and the net is open!

Freedom is precious and should be guarded.  This also means guarding and defending it from within our shores-even from the highest office in this land.
